Living the life

Well she is doing great!!!  She is getting involved in a lot of activities and learning the ropes at this place.  She enjoys the daily meetings and is learning about the plans for the remodel.  They have bought in the dumpsters so parking there is even harder, but soon that will change.  Her room will have lots of  noise and they told her to be prepared.  When it is done the bathroom will be bigger and the room will be more modern.  The residents are sad because part of the remodel will require the murals on the walls to be torn down.  The activities will have a larger space and the therapy department will also be improved. Change is hard.  I am glad she is here for the start of it.  She is excited she gets to pick the color in her room.. she would like a bright color but they are leaning toward pastels.

Speaking of pt. This has not started yet because of insurance.  Insurance is a pain in the back end but everyone knows that.  They have decided to get her going on restorative therapy so that she can get use of being in therapy.  The pt dept is under contract with Christopher house so they have there own billing I think.

Good news.  They weighed her today and she has lost a couple of pounds.  She told them that she didn't want it back.  She loves the food here because she can pick whatever she wants so they give her a cup of ice cream with meals.  She even got a brownie with ice cream one night.  She seems to be full without needing snacks.

She is going to church tomorrow.  Raylean got it fixed up so that she can go with transportation.  She will be tired after it is over.  It is a long day.  They don't have any air conditioning in the building so she is deciding what shirt will be the best to wear.

She has made friends with the dog here.  His name is Sam E.  He has left his toys in her room and according to the staff he remembers where he left it so he will be back.

Hillary and I are going to start a sewing club here.  We were wondering if anyone has some suggestions on projects to make??  We need to figure out something that mom can help with.  One handed projects are hard to think of.

She seems to be okay with the weather.  She has them turn off the fans at night because she gets cold.  This has amazed me.

She had a manicure.  I wanted to get in line because this lady does french manicures.  She massages their hands and when they are done it looks fabulous darling,  The neat thing is that it is a free service every Friday.

I am so happy about how well she is being treated.  I know it is early and things can change but am enjoying it for now.   Negative thought, sorry.  The staff is very patient and all the residents love the care they get here.   I timed the response for the toilet and it within three minutes.  I cannot wait till they can teach her transferring but as before mentioned....INSURANCE.
